Mums Matter

Mums Support Group

Description:

  • Are you having a tough time after giving birth to your baby

  • Surprised at the kind of emotions you’re feeling and the kind of thoughts you are having?

  • Perhaps you’re just numb and not feeling connected to your baby?

  • Do you feel unsupported by your partner, family and friends?

New motherhood is often imagined to be a time of great joy, happiness and excitement. However we know that the reality for many mums can be far from this with low moods, anxiety and worrying thoughts and feelings. Here at The Healing Stars, we support mums to manage the everyday, nurture themselves and dispel the many myths of motherhood.

Mums Matter is a support group for mums who are finding life with children challenging in some way. A relaxed, friendly and confidential space in which mums can share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences, which may include stress, isolation, depression. Mums Matter encourages you to develop a deeper self-understanding and act according to your personal values through:

  • Recognizing difficult thoughts, feeling and behaviors and development of more mindful ways to relate to your experience

  • Reduce stress and improving the ways in which you cope with stress

  • Improving self-regulation

  • Encouraging healthy self care behaviors

  • Strengthening the bond with your child

We will use some mindfulness techniques but the group is mainly about supportive listening and sharing- not advice giving or parenting training.

If you are a new mum or mum-to-be and you feel that you might benefit you can contact me to register or to get more information on 99 87 49 17 or email at belina@thehealingstars.com.

Psychological Support

I also offer psychological support to new mums or mums-to-be helping them to deal with the challenges and difficluties arising from or related to the maternity experience. Most of us expect to feel happy, excited and positive during pregnancy, and when our baby is born. But it doesn’t always happen like this.  You can feel many different emotions during pregnancy and after birth.  These can range from love, pride and joy, to worry, sadness and frustration. It is natural to feel stressed or anxious at times during pregnancy - or when you have a new baby. These emotions are quite normal.

My years of experience working with parents and mums and the fact that I recenty became a mother made me realise how important is to focus on the Perinatal Mental Health. The aim of the service is to support and help mums build both a positive relationship with their baby and a sense of confidence in being a mum.
